Bliss & Stars Observatory

A retreat facility called Bliss & Stars situated in Cedarberg, Cape Town.  The client, who is an avid astronomer, needed a structure to permanently house six telescopes.

The structure is to be designed in a way that the entire roof can slide back on a track to reveal the night sky.  Extreme day time temperatures in the region meant the structure had to have a low thermal mass to reduce any radiant heat that would affect the viewing at night time.

We have worked closely with the client to design a structure that is suitable and easy to operate.
